Please note that this class will be taught on line via Zoom.

Rhino is a CAD modelling program extensively used in the jewelry industry for design, prototyping, and production.

For those who have completed our Introduction to Rhino course or have already learned the basics of modeling in Rhino, we offer a workshop class to create your own designs in Rhino. These six workshop sessions will meet remotely via Zoom once a week for two hours, and during this time we will determine an approach to modeling each class member’s design, and review, critique, and repair (if necessary) your digital models as you build them. We learn from watching how each of us models their own unique designs.
When each digital design is complete, we will print it, send you a resin print, and demonstrate how you will remove the supports created during the printing process. This finished resin print can then be sent to a caster of your choice.

Steven Parker is an Adjunct Professor in the Jewelry Design Department at FIT in New York.
He is also a certified Rhino trainer, teaching Rhino3D, a CAD modeling program widely used in jewelry and other industries. Steven went through his apprenticeship at Oscar Heyman, a manufacturer of the very finest precious stone jewelry, and later returned there to manage production. He spent time working in the toy industry, developing and manufacturing products that took adantage of his expertise and love of all things mechanical. Currently, in addition to teaching he consults with clients on all phases of jewelry manufacture from design and prototyping to production.
