Wax Carving: Design and Carve a Ring - Session 1 with: Manya Vragov

Design and carve your own unique ring using the ancient, malleable, and fun Lost-Wax technique.

Learn how to work with this beloved material to create everything from representative to abstract rings.

Students will learn how to transfer their ideas from their heads to paper to wax, carve the wax by hand, size the ring in wax, hollow it out to achieve optimal casting with less porosity, and options for where to bring/send the final carving to be molded and cast.

Students will leave the class knowing how to set up one's own wax-carving studio at home.

The Friday after the final class, students will have the option of meeting Manya at a casting house in the afternoon in NYC to drop off their pieces to be molded and cast.

A list of materials to being to the first class will be provided.
