Ice Cream Social - Making Your Own Silver Ice Cream Spoon! with: Karen Christians

Come celebrate summer with the joy of eating ice cream with a sterling spoon that you make. In this workshop, students will learn how to create their own sterling silver ice cream spoon using roller inlay techniques, forging or the hydraulic press. Design esthetics from vintage and contemporary flatware will be discussed to personalize each spoon. Beginners will start with a flat spoon blank which can be modified utilizing with cold connections and pierced decorations. For more advanced, students will embellish the handle or bowl learning marriage of metal roller inlay technique with decorative stripes and polka dots. Using the hydraulic press, the bowl will be formed and soldered onto the handle. At the conclusion of the workshop, we will take our spoons and dive into ice cream!
