Skill Level: Should have some basic jewelry making skills.

Materials/Supplies:
$30 payable at time of registration.

This class will focus on constructing and decorating small hollow forms using matrix dies, strip plate construction and fabrication skills. These may be worn as vases, beads and amulets.

Creating the forms from sheet metal & tubing will encompass forming, die forming, soldering tech-niques, decorative surface techniques, methods of making stoppers and various approaches to hang-ing or attaching the vessels for wearing and finishing of small metal forms. Students will be instructed on how to make their own matrix dies and may have the opportunity to use some of the instructors.

Each student should have ample time to complete at least one bead/vessel during this class. The techniques taught in this workshop can be applied to many other projects a student may want to pursue. Forming, fitting parts accurately, delicate and precise soldering are all important skills for any jewelry fabrication.

This class is best suited for those who have had some basic jewelry making experience and are familiar with the terminology related to metalsmithing and silver soldering. Many examples will be shown and discussed.
